Monday 14 December

Halfway through Hanukkah (I know, I know, but its finals, man), and here is the first of my festive cups for December. For me, celebrating Hanukkah is a family, social affair, and so this year not being able to see my adopted Jewish family has been hard. And this cup really brings that together- you can’t play dreidel by yourself.

There’s a reason for using the word ‘here’ rather than ‘there’ as it is in some traditions. In Israel, the translation is ‘a great miracle happened here’ to reference the multiple miracles that have happened throughout the years, as well as showing that miracles aren’t stagnant, and continue happening. So in this year of uncertainty, lets remember the eternal light and hope for some light in the new year.
