It’s time to Think Pink! And no I don’t mean Victoria’s Secret. October is Breast Cancer Awareness month, and even during this COVID time, cancer research is still vitally important. Of course this doesn’t negate an of the terror of COVID for some people, or any other cancers, just like with human lives. All cancers matter, yes but not all encompassing. All lives matter (no one should be taking any human lives), but Black Lives Matter especially because they are being destroyed, suppressed, and murdered more so. The “All Lives Matter” people would say the same about cancers too- aka being ridiculous. In the UK, October is also Black History Month, if you were wondering the connection. And although your social media feeds are probably not as filled with information of anti-racism and ways to check your own privilege, that doesn’t mean the movement is gone or less important!

This is just like with cancer- October may be the month for breast cancer, but that doesn’t mean it doesn’t exist throughout the rest of the year. I have a relative who died of breast cancer. Cancer took her away from my family before I got to meet her, but “the ones who love us never truly leave us” including grandmas.

So chiquititas- Check yo boobies! Easily done, very good practice, and better to catch early. All breasts come in different shapes and sizes, but all could possibly be at risk (yes I’m also talking about you dudes out there- breast cancer in men exists.) As October comes to an end, don’t forget to check them boobs occasionally. Breast Wishes, my friends.
